Loddelina – Bags with handmade applique and embroidery from France

Loddelina sells one of a kind handbags, purses, totes, zippered pouches and embellishments – embroidered, adorned with beads, trims, lace and decorative stitches.

The maker’s name is Damjana and she is a freelance designer of textiles and fashion from Slovenia, currently living in France with her husband and two small children. It all started in 2001, a few years after she graduated from fashion and textile design at University of Ljubljana. It suddenly occurred to her that the most common item in her closet were not shoes like in so many women’s wardrobes, but handbags! Somehow she has managed to bring home a handbag, purse or a tote from every holiday and trip she took. It was time to start making bags herself…

The maker prefers using single colour fabrics of different structure and feel so she can decorate them herself – with beads, lace, applique or embroidery, often not appearing randomly but following the shape of the bag. She loves fabrics and will also use printed designs when she can complement them with her own hand work. She has recently started adding some small home decor items to her shop - she wonders where Loddelina takes her next…
