Too Faced Cosmetics Review
Posted on: February 22, 2012
Too Faced is a name that has become synonymous with style and continues to set the trends that dominate the fashion magazines. And while one foot is firmly planted in fashion, the other is swimming in celebrity. As a makeup staple on the set of some of today’s hottest movies and T.V shows, as well as the red carpet, many of Too Faced’s products are becoming as famous as the characters they were named after. From Marcia Marcia Marcia, George and Weezie, to Steel Magnolias, screen-inspired shade names have fast become another Too Faced signature.
With a growing roster of trendsetting shadow shades, high-tech lip plumpers (Lip Injection), why-didn’t-I-think-of-that innovations (Liquif-Eye, which transforms eye shadow into liquid liner), and a collection of cute-as-punch palettes, which have amassed a major following of their own (The Quickie Chronicles), Too Faced has come a long way from paper cups and found a niche in the makeup market.

Jaebum Fangirl will review three of their products: Candlelight Shadow Insurance Primer, Exotic Color Intense Eye Shadow Singles in Nice Stems!, and Exotic Color Intense Eye Shadow Singles in Firefly.
You see from the packaging above that Too Faced deeply and earnestly care about customer service. It is a beautiful package that just excites you before you even get into the inside goodies. The scotch tape was tight and durable to keep everything in place. The pink box is so cute that I cannot throw it away; I plan on keeping some trinkets inside! Disclaimer: I censored my information for privacy reasons.
The moment I opened the box, I was just in pure makeup geek mode. The pink shredded paper just adds to the overall feminine and fun packaging. In the picture above, all three glam goodies were in bubble wrap to insure safe travel. I unwrapped the bubble wrap for the sake of this picture.
What stands out to me the most about Too Faced is their love for their customers. The cute packaging made me feel very special, almost as if I was their number one priority. It was like this package was personalized by my boyfriend as a Valentine’s Day gift. After giving birth recently, I needed something to make me feel special and pretty again. This is perfect for a girl like me!
Here is another picture of the product inside the box (above). This is a close-up.
All the makeup products were in a bubble wrap (above). I ordered eyeshadow palette from another website before, and the palette cracked during the shipping journey. I am so relieved that Too Faced is careful enough to ensure that each and every makeup products is safe in this bubble wrap. I never again have to worry about ordering makeup online!
Here (above) is a picture of Too Faced‘s three makeup products outside of the box. You can see that the quality of the primer tube and eyeshadow pot is top notch. The eyeshadow is inside an adorable black flower-shadowed pot that keeps the pan (the eyeshadow) inside. Both the Candlelight Shadow Insurance and the two Exotic Eye Colors are travel friendly. Just enough to last for a long time, yet portable enough to fit your purse.
I love that the Candlelight Shadow Insurance Primer comes in a tube. In makeup, one must be careful of bacteria. Especially for primer, a product that is not applied with a brush or any other tool, those that do not come in a tube or pump are prone to bacteria build-up. This is because of the bacterias of our fingers that smear onto the makeup products. Over time, this could be harmful. Because the Candlelight Shadow Insurance Primer from Too Faced comes with a tube, I do not need to worry about this problem. Every time I want to use primer, I just squeeze the amount I need and the primer inside the tube is safe and clean to use next time. Also, bacteria buildup is not a problem with eyeshadows because I use a brush for those. I just remember to wash my brushes and I am ready to go!
Isn’t the colors of the Exotic Color Intense Eye Shadow Singles in Nice Stems!, and Exotic Color Intense Eye Shadow Singles in Firefly just gorgeous! While it is difficult to capture in a picture, the two eyeshadows are very shimmery, especially the firefly color. The colors fit the name; they are very exotic and rock-star chic. I love it!
In the picture above, I applied a layer of each product on my skin. For reference based on skin type, I am Asian, so my skin is naturally tan with a jaundiced hue. These colors and products could look differently based on skin color.
Candlelight Shadow Insurance Primer: I applied the primer on my skin in two different ways. In the picture, the shade on top is when I blended the primer on my skin. I could have blended the primer more to fit my skin tone, but I liked the shimmery glow of the primer. It added a highlighting effect on my lids. Below that shade, I applied a thick layer of the primer without any blending. I added this in the picture to demonstrate the density of the primer.
This primer is called Candlelight because it adds a candlelight effect to the eye lids. I noticed my eyes looked brighter and more pronounced. When I applied the eyeshadow on top of primer, as opposed to using no primer, I noticed that blending with the primer was so easy. Several strokes was all I needed to effortlessly blend my eyeshadow. The primer does not overshadow the colors of the eyeshadow, but rather just intensifies the colors. I wore my makeup for seven hours and my makeup did not smudge, fade, or crease! I was amazed at the end of the long day to come home and have my eye makeup still intact. I am a very sweaty person, so this primer is a life saver. I will no longer have to worry about fixing or reapplying my makeup every two or three hours.
Cost: $18. Scent: I have a sensitive nose, so the scent was a little strong, but not overwhelming. If I had to change anything, I would make it fragrance-free and odor-less.
Exotic Color Intense Eye Shadow Singles in Nice Stems!: This color is the third in the picture above. Too Faced describes this color as golden clover. I couldn’t say it better myself. This green-ish shade is perfect for Christmas or St. Patrick’s Day. The texture is very pigmented. It is smooth on the skin (almost matte). The hint of gold allows for a shimmery effect that intensifies the eyes. I plan on using this eye shadow with a plain black dress and green heels!
Cost: $18. Scent: None.
Exotic Color Intense Eye Shadow Singles in Firefly: Wow! Just wow! My favorite out of the three. While this color is a little plain by itself, when blended with other colors, Firefly is just an incredible shimmery shade that makes the eyes pop. It is so effortless to apply. With the Candlelight primer, the Firefly shade will last for a long time. Just like the Nice Stems!, the Firefly is very pigmented. I actually have been using this shade every day since I received the package. I am addicted!
Cost: $18. Scent: None.

Summary: Great packaging, superb customer service, top-notch quality and products, and lasting results.
