Neocutis‘ story began with a simple observation: prenatal surgery can be done so that the baby rarely presents scar formation after birth. What allows the enormous wound healing capacity of fetal skin? And, how can one use these capacities to cure different types of skin disorders?

The “Laboratoire de Médecine Foetale” at the Medical School of the University Hospital of Lausanne has worked extensively with fetal cells since 1995 and resulted in several patent applications.

During the later part of 2002, experienced business people joined the team of physicians and biologists working at Lausanne University to found Neocutis.

The founders then spent the first 18 months protecting the intellectual property of their proprietary technology defining a business strategy, setting up a business plan and hiring the pioneers in order to establish the skin cell bank.

In July 2004, a group of financial investors led by Venture Incubator closed a first financing round. Investors are a mix of Swiss Venture Capital funds and business angels.

This financing enabled Neocutis to launch its first product in the US market, “Neocutis Bio-restorative Skin Cream”; a cosmeceutical sold through physicians. In parallel, Neocutis continues the process of developing a a novel topical drug.

In the second half of 2004, Neocutis Inc. was founded and headquartered in San Francisco. Neocutis Inc. heads all of the commercial activities.

Neocutis developed a technology platform based on an in-depth understanding of scarless wound healing. This platform has multiple applications in wound healing, dermatology and skin care.

My Review: What a fantastic cleanser! I love using this in the morning because this rich creamy cleanser is so gentle on the skin. I usually like the “rougher” exfoliaters/cleansers before going to bed to get rid of all the impurities gathered throughout the day, but in the morning I prefer a more calming skin care. Every morning, for the past week, I have woken up with the NEO-CLEANSE Gentle and Exfoliating Skin Cleanser with fantastic results. My skin feels clearer, cleaner, and clarified.

Another reason why this cleanser is fantastic is the properties of this cleanser when in use. Unlike other cleansers, the NEO-CLEANSE Gentle and Exfoliating Skin Cleanser does not foam. Instead, this creamy cleanser turned milky-white when massaged on my damp skin. I love that it does not turn into foam. I have a feeling that a lot of the product in foam cleansers are wasted. When using the Neo-Cleanse product, I feel like every bit of the product is being used.

My Review: First, how cute is the container? When I received this cleansing scrub in the mail, I immediately adored the unique shape of the bottle. I also love the logo of the SKIN brand and the fruity picture! It made me crave pineapples… yum. In my first impressions, I was surprised that the color of the scrub was very different than in the website picture. This didn’t bother me, since skin care products have a wide range of hues, from white to black. In other words, the color of this cleansing scrub is a non-issue. In fact, I like the natural look of the SKIN Fruity Face Cleansing Scrub! It is made from real and organic ingredients that are safe and beneficial to your skin.

I like to use this scrub in the shower. I massage my face with an generous amount. In a circular motion, the crystals scrub away all the impurities on the surface of your skin and goes deep inside to clean your pores. Keep in mind, the crystals are significantly bigger than those in other exfoliaters. The website states, “Use with caution on irritated or sensitive skin.” Fortunately for me, I have combination/oily skin, so this scrub was perfect in getting rid of all the grime and oil from my face. After washing off the scrub and drying my damp skin, I felt rejuvenated and clean. After a long day my skin felt free. It is a fantastic feeling to know that your skin can breathe after being suffocated with concealers, foundations, and oil all day.

The smell is just delicious. I am not hundred percent sure what I am smelling, but to me it was like walking into a fruit garden, in which the scents of all the fruits blended together in a perfect combination. According to the website, “Ingredients: Jojoba oil, plum kernel oil, aloe vera, distilled water, vegetable glycerin, vitamin E, apricot kernel, vegetable wax, pineapple fruit extract, papaya fruit extract, grapefruit essential oil, grapefruit seed extract.”

Summary: Great cleansing scrubs for normal, combination, or oily skin. Works effectively. Smells fantastic!
