Sara & Geoffrey immediately come to the rescue as they rally friends and family to help gather used clothes and donate them to others.

About the Author

Elizabeth Truong lives in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida with her husband and kids. She is inspired to save the world by her mother, Lien. Lien is an immigrant and a single mom who put eight kids through college. After Lien retired, she dedicated herself to help people less fortunate. Lien tirelessly finds ways to raise money and has been giving every penny away to hospitals, orphanages and other organizations. Elizabeth hopes to follow in her mom’s foot steps to make a difference.

“Growing up, as immigrants from Vietnam, my family had nothing. I can still remember our excitement when we received our first bag of used clothes from the Salvation Army. I was overwhelmed with joy. I want to pay it forward by encouraging kids and parents to have fun while helping others.”

Elizabeth grew up in Boston and went to UMASS Amherst for her BS and was a recipient of a full scholarship at Babson College for her MBA. She is currently a Chief Investment Officer of a $1 billion privately held multi-family investment group. She is also a sustainer with the Junior League of the Palm Beaches and is a proud mentor in the mentoring program for Children’s Home Society of Florida.

The Sara & Geoffrey idea came to Elizabeth when she went shopping with her daughter for a Halloween costume. Her daughter was 3 yrs old at the time. She saw a Super Girl outfit and immediately only wanted that one. Once home, her daughter was so excited. She put on the outfit and jumped around saying “I want to go save the world, mommy! Come on, let’s go.” She was insistent on going outside to knock on everyone’s door to see what she could do to help them. She had never seen a superman show before yet somewhere and somehow she wanted to go save the world. Elizabeth’s son is just as enthusiastic like other kids his age. All he wants to do is wear his cape and run around with special powers.

About the Illustrator

Korey Scott is an illustrator who specializes in children’s books, educational material, and funny characters.

His illustration style is perfect for capturing the attention of children and adults. Korey is proud to say that his illustrations and children’s books not only are fun to look at, but they provide a beneficial resource to a child’s education. Children love the playful details and silly characters while adults enjoy how the illustrations encourage children to read, learn, and have fun.

His work has won awards such as “Best Children’s Book” at the 2007 North Texas Book Festival and the Golden Spur Honor Award from the Texas State Reading Association (TSRA) 2005. Teachers also enjoy using his material for class projects.

When he is not drawing (and many times when he is) you can find him spending time with his wife Kelly, poking fun at his two dogs, trying to make people laugh, and speaking Spanish.

Jaebum Fangirl had the opportunity to review the giveaway item: Donate Clothes Book by Elizabeth Truong

My Review: Now that I have a daughter, I have a whole new perspective on life. I have always cared about donating clothes, and I have been donating clothes my whole life, but I feel more personal and motivated in helping other children around the world after the birth of my daughter. I hope with this book, my daughter will grow to feel the same way. Not everyone is fortunate to have warm clothes to wear and this is something that everybody should strive to resolve.

While my daughter is too young to understand this just yet (she is just a baby!), I read this to my little sister who is the perfect age to begin to make changes in the world in her own way.

My sister loved this book, especially the character Sara. In the words of my sister, “She is so cool!” I agree. Sara & Geoffrey are great role models that kids can relate to. They wear these awesome caps that makes them look like superheroes. And they are superheroes! They help out the world, one clothes at a time.

For me, I really loved the message in the book, both in writing and in illustration. Firstly, the writing in fantastically written for children. The message is simple yet also important. Helping the world by donating your clothes. After reading the book, my sister immediately went into her closet and asked our mother if she could donate some of her clothes. My mother and I were both touched. Secondly, the illustration really made me fall in love with the book. I am Asian-American, and growing up in America, I never really found characters in children books that looked like me. I absolutely love that this book has children of all backgrounds.

My little sister adores this fun and important book. I think the children in your life will too!
