Fair Trade is a market based approach to solving social, economic and environmental injustice. It is a system based on transparency, communication, and understanding.
The fair trade system strengthens the skills of the producers to grow and become self sufficient in the international trading arena. By connecting consumers more directly to producers in developing countries and reducing middle men, the local artisans make livable wages, and the consumers enjoy products that are backed by a unique story and history. It is a mutually beneficial relationship that leads to a more just international trading system, as well as a greater cultural understanding across boundaries. Fair Trade has seen tremendous growth in the past decade indicating that consumers have become more conscious of how and where they spend their money.

Huiyi Tan – Pencil Jewelry & Designer Jewelry Handmade in England
The creator and maker of this handmade Etsy shop is Huiyi. She is a GIA Accredited Jewelry Professional (A.J.P.). She was was first trained to be an interior designer for her bachelor degree, and gained her MA in Jewelry Design at School of Jewellery, Birmingham Institute of Art & Design (UK). After graduation, she lived in Fairfax, and Alexandira, Virginia State, America for about 4 years. Since June 2010, she has been active in Etsy as an independent jewelry designer and maker. She lives in southwest UK now.
Contemporary designer jewelry at her ETSY shop are all designed and handmade by Huiyi at her small Cornish studio, Southwest of England. If you are looking for something different from mass-produced jewelry, she might have something for you.
